Filming - Butterfly Studios

I felt that filming at butterfly studios went really well. Josie was a natural in front of the camera, I couldn't have asked for a better acting seeing as she was quite nervous and unsure of what she should be doing. I managed to get a range of shots and the studio was really good with all the proper lights and extra props we experimented with a little.

Filming in the Garden - 25th February

Filming went really well, John and Harry acted naturally in front of the camera and I was able to get many shots from lots of different angles. I was worried because we were filming outside and it was starting to rain but it held off so I didn't have to reschedule. First I filmed the shots of Harry and John playing football together, tackling each other and a penalty shoot out. Then I filmed the shots of Harry on his own sitting and playing with the football and leaning against the tree.

Filming at the Park - 18th February

Filming went really well on Saturday, I filmed late morning and the light was good which improved the quality of the footage. I wasn't under any time constraint so I was able to experiment with my shots and angles. First I filmed the shots of Ruth, Chris and Freddie together playing on the park and woods around it. I many used my handheld camera so I could get lots of close shots of what was happening and move around quickly to vary my angles. When I filmed Ruth on her own I focused a lot more on getting some arty shots and the effect of the shots an angle. I tried to capture lots of empty space in the shots to try an introduc e the idea of loneliness and an a bsence of her family.

Filming at Maddermarket

Friday last week I spent a couple of hours filming at Maddermarket theatre with my actor. The theatre had a balcony level which I used to film an extreme high level. The actually stage wasn't quite like what I imagined so spent most of my time focused on tight angle shots and certain features like her feet, arms and face. The stage didnt have the dramatic curtains or wings like I would imagine of a theatre because this venue is used for smaller productions. The dressing rooms were really good to film in, they looked like typical dressing rooms with the lights around the mirror. The lights meant everything was clear so close up footage of her face shows her emotions clearly. With the footage I plan to cut it up into short shots to put in with her training in the ballet studio. This is the shot list I did before going to the theatre so I had some ideas of what shots I wanted to film. As I hadn't visited the theatre before it was hard to know what shots would look good. ...
